Grind It Skate and BMX Event

Tuesday, 31st July 2007 saw the start of a weekly series of Skate and BMX Events at the Barn.  A turnout of approximately 70 young local people participated in the event, where the youngsters showed off their skills to a large crowd of spectators and demonstrated how well behaved young people can be in a well organised event.  


Whole Schools & Communites, Gorseinon Development Trust, City & County of Swansea Parks Department and the Swansea Youth Service all got together to organise the event, which will be running for the next 4 weeks on Tuesdays at the same time and venue.

Gorseinon Game of Skate

Street Sports Swansea, together City & County of Swansea Parks Department organised a Free Skate for skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX bikers at Parc Melin Mynach on Friday, 1st June 2007.  

Ramps were erected and there was plenty of music with competitions and prizes to be won, the event was an enormous success with the young people of Gorseinon.

The weather was excellent on the day which resulted in a very good attendance.

The photograph shows Cllr Gill Evans, Town Mayor, together with Street Sports Swansea representatives and some of the competitors from the event.

More skate and BMX events were held during Summer 2007 as follows:-

Tuesdays 5pm to 8pm - 31st July, 7th August, 14th August, 21st August, 28th August.
