Volunteers Work Their Magic

The Pontybrenin Nature Reserve has had a major face lift due to the hard work of volunteers in clearing the ground and are in the process of planting thousand of trees.

The Gorseinon Development Trust are working in partnership with BTCV, FOPMM, Gorseinon Army Cadets, Pontybrenin English and Welsh Junior Schools and volunteers from around Swansea to create a wildlife nature reserve between the two schools.  We intend to provide an outside classroom where the young people can learn about environmental issues in a stimulating, relaxed atmosphere.  We will be planting in excess of 3,000 trees and also creating an apple and pear orchard.

The photograph below (taken on 16 February) shows some of the hard-working volunteers who have spent their Saturday mornings at the reserve.

The groups will be meeting at 10:30 am every Saturday morning until the project is completed.
