Gorseinon Development Trust Grant Awards |

The Trust was approached by the Gorseinon History Archive Society for advice on accessing funding for one of their projects. Celia Borthwick and Sadie Clayfield of the History Society wanted to purchase equipment that would enable them to visit various groups and communities, such as sheltered accommodation blocks, to display information while they were giving talks on the history and heritage of the Gorseinon area. The display equipment was needed to take this project forward and, with the help of the GDT, they successfully achieved an "Award for all Wales" grant in excess of £1,000. | ||||||||||

With their new display equipment the Society were busy visiting the following venues to inform and entertain the communities:- Thursday, 20

2007 - Llys Gwalia Sheltered Housing, Gorseinon Tuesday, 8 January
2008 - Glynhir W.I. at Pontarddulais Institute
The GDT also supported a bid from Maes yr Efail Sheltered Accommodation, West Street, for a grant from "Award for All Wales" of £4,833. This grant award enabled 34 elderly residents to stay at a luxurious hotel in Bideford, Devon for 5 days and to travel in style with a local tour company, Pegasus, in a superb Joplings coach.
