I am delighted to be able after 18 months of planning and with the support of local agencies to announce that Gorseinon will be holding its inaugural Food Festival on the 24th April 2010.

Gorseinon and its people have a long history of innovation from its very first days of its existence from steel making to coal mining and later with industries more associated with our modern days providing many opportunities for our local work force. Our local Food Festival which is now being planned for 2010 will be part of that future development of our community and the future prosperity of its people.

Gorseinon lies between the "Mountains and the Sea" and what better a theme to display the very best in local produce combining both those elements which are and can be purchased locally.

With the support of the Gorseinon Trust and our major partners in the project we can now make this festival possible. It is our aim that the festival will attract many visitors to the town as well as sow the seeds in the minds of small new business's to set up here in the near future creating opportunities for the local people as well as developing the wealth of the community.

We look forward to seeing you on the day we have planned which will offer something for everyone from 50 local produced food stands to 20 non food /local craft stands which are all grown or made locally. Simon Wright who is the owner of the Y Polyn Restaurant in Nantgeradig and also the Sunday Times food journalist and RAC food consultant has given his support to our food festival. Simon is currently involved in promoting everything that is good in the Welsh Food industry and we value his support to our festival.

To achieve our goal this would not have been possible without the help and thought of the organizing team who have dedicated their own free time top help develop the very first food festival in April. All the team involved are local to the area and have a passion to see the Festival a success as well as achieving its future aims for the Gorseinon community.

I am privileged to be working with a dedicated and committed group of Directors who are convinced that the festival will become a regular feature in the growth of Gorseinon and will act as a catalyst to many other festivals be it Music, The Arts, Motor, Food & Wine, etc.
